I see too many sports people who work on their strength and fitness yet don't have poise. What is poise? If you want to know check out the top players in any sport and you'll get an idea. Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Thierry Henry (hey weren't they all in that adverts for the razor blades!), well you get the idea. Whether playing their sport or in an advert they  move with ease and appear almost serene. It doesn't matter how strong or toned you are, if you haven't got poise you're not going to get the best out of your body. Read more here.

The what technique? That's the most common response I get when I say I'm a teacher of The Alexander Technique. Yet this remarkable (but very underrated) technique can do wonders for golfers. In fact, I've found golfers take to it very well as the focus on detail is right up their street. And once they've overcome their initial scepticism they're amazed at how much difference the subtle changes bought about by lessons can have on their game. Read what I believe are five very good reasons for having lessons are here.

In fact it's so simple and small that most golfers don't even know they're doing it. Today I was teaching a young golfer and yet again saw what I see in many players. This chap was unknowingly stiffening his neck and clenching his jaw just before he played every shot. When I brought it to his attention his first reaction was 'so what?' and 'what's it got to do with my technique?' I explained that even a very small amount of excessive tension in the neck muscles has a huge influence on coordination and movement. When he tried my technique to prevent this unecessary build up of tension he suddenly found his swing was freer and worth an extra few yards! Do you stiffen your neck? Do you know? If it's a habit you probably won't notice - read more here.

Having a bad golf day? We all have off days but these are actually the days when we can learn some valuable lessons. I’ve found the best way to deal with a bad day is to stop trying to make things better. Take a step back and see your game in a different light. The simplest and by far the easiest thing you can do to improve your swing is probably one you've never considered and yet it can have a dramatic effect on your technique. What is it? Relax your jaw. Yes, it sounds simple but I've seen this work for many golfers of all abilities. Why should something so simple help, read the full article here.
